As promised, here are some things to consider when putting your business online.
It’s important for local search results
To begin with, it’s really super critical that you have a website, even if it’s just a simple static site with your address, contact information, and hours of operation. Why? Google local and other local search services use this type of information to build your local business listing The more sources/references that make this information available online, the easier it is for people to find that information they need about your website.
You might as well own your domain
Don’t make the mistake of thinking you don’t want to own your “your company” domain. Even if you’re not online right now, you should grab that domain while you still can.
How will you edit it?
If you DO want a website that you can edit, get it built in wordpress so you can easily keep it updated with current news and updates. If you don’t think you will edit it, go with simple static HTML pages (because it’s harder to hack). WordPress is great, but you must be dedicated to keeping it updated and patched (including all plugins). An unpatched WordPress install is a threat because they can be hacked and taken over. Not good.
